Within this site you will find some very helpful advice from the Medical Officer and various different experts, doctors and organisations on the benefits of exercise, healthy diet, stopping smoking and other important lifestyle choices.
The benefits of these lifestyle choices for those who make them lie, above all, in lessening the mortality rate from coronary heart disease and many other problems. But much more needs to be done, especially in reducing the increasing number of people contracting diabetes, in diminishing the number suffering strokes, and in the early diagnosis of prostate and bowel cancer. The challenge of the growing problem of obesity, and in particular its effects on children and young people is also addressed.
Articles by contributing experts and scientific bodies are presented in a format we hope you will find easy to read yet informative, providing you with sufficient information to enable you to take control and achieve better health, for yourself and for your family.
Supplementing the medical articles are various pieces from companies and organisations supporting this initiative.
The information within will help you to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, but remember that if you are worried or concerned about any aspect of your health, do talk to your GP.
I hope you enjoy browsing this website, and as a result choose, and continue to ‘Choose Health’.
hat makes us different? We have a focus on NHS issues with a front line/street level perspective on politics.
Do you think career politicians, with no life experience & 'ivory tower' academic think-tanks produces good government?
With each election, fewer and fewer people turn A history of The Association of Primary Care Groups and Trusts out to vote. Politicians seem more and more detached, being preoccupied with point scoring over rivals and keeping their jobs.
And yet, every day I read the newspapers, I find myself asking a simple question: "Are the politicians getting anything right?"
And how many political parties are truly pro-NHS? The NHSFirst party is not a single issue party, but a general political party which is reflected in the objectives of the party.
However, we feel the NHS has suffered the most from political mismanagement over the last 25 and more years. Therefore the principal objective of the Party is to promote the NHS founding principles of comprehensiveness, universality and equity. I feel we have an exciting agenda, something Scottish politics desperately needs. We are also putting the spotlight on key areas. Areas, the Labour party and their Lib-Dem coalition partners would prefer to keep out of the public eye.
I hope you enjoy visiting the party web site and like what you read. If you would like to know more or get involved contact us.
We'll make a difference
I hope the party will enjoy support from people across the political spectrum and that the NHSFirst party will be a rally point for those concerned about what is happening not only to the NHS but also in other areas of society.
